Cape Fear is coming.

Apple TV confirmed Tuesday that the 10-episode series created by Nick Antosca and starring Amy Adams, Patrick Wilson and Javier Bardem is set for a global debut on the streamer June 5. Two episodes will drop that day with new episodes dropping every Friday through July 31. The premiere date and the show’s first stills were revealed during Tuesday’s Apple TV press day at Santa Monica Barker Hangar, where Antosca moderated a discussion with his stars Adams and Wilson.

The psychological thriller, which hails from Universal Studio Group’s UCP and Amblin Television, centers on happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson). Their lives are upturned with when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is released from prison and intent on seeking vengeance. CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles and Anna Baryshnikov round out the ensemble cast.

It is based on the novel The Executioners, which inspired Gregory Peck’s 1962 film from Universal and the critically acclaimed 1991 remake from Martin Scorsese starring Robert De Niro, Nick Nolte, Jessica Lange and Juliette Lewis.

The new Cape Fear series, executive produced by Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, was created by Antosca, who serves as showrunner and executive producer. His team includes Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, and Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey alongside Spielberg for Amblin Television. Oscar nominee Morten Tyldum directed the pilot and serves as executive producer. The series was developed and produced through Antosca’s overall deal at UCP, where he’s been based since 2017. Adams and Bardem also receive executive producer credits.
