Earlier this week, Wicked‘s Glinda herself — Ariana Grande — was the guest on Amy Poehler’s celebrity interview podcast, Good Hang.
The podcast, which first launched in March of this year, has been applauded time and time again by fans for Amy’s easygoing but inquisitive interview style. In a time when so many celebrity interviews feel like a vehicle for clickbait-y headlines and juicy, gossipy clips for socials, it’s a refreshing change of pace that earnestly feels like listening to a conversation between friends over drinks, celebrity-status aside. And this week’s episode was, of course, no exception.
Between discussing Ariana’s upcoming Eternal Sunshine tour and her experience on Broadway, the pair spoke fondly about Ariana’s late grandmother, Marjorie, who passed away in June of this year at the age of 99.
Toward the end of the interview, Amy asks Ariana what her favorite Italian dish is, and Ariana reminisces about the delicious marinara her Nonna would make. Amy’s simple but touching four-word response really resonated with people.
Ariana continues on to share her favorite memory of her Nonna — the day her brother, Frankie, came out to the family.
“‘tell me about them’ must be literally the best question you could ask to someone who lost someone,” one commenter said.
“I hope someone asks me that same question some day when it’s my Nonna,” another commenter replied.
