Karen Dineen’s epic story of revenge when she discovered that her husband was cheating on her is both hilarious and inspiring.

And it all started when she began to suspect that her husband was having an affair.

They Had The Perfect Life

Karen and her husband Terry looked like they had a fairytale life on the surface. The couple were married for 19 years and even shared two kids together.

Then things took a dark turn.

Her Husband’s Behavior Changed

Karen began to notice a couple of warning signs in how her husband’s behavior had changed. He started coming home from work, getting dressed in nice clothes, and then leaving again, claiming he had to return to work.

He worked construction, and Karen didn’t think there’d be a good reason for him to get dressed up.

He Made A Sneaky Change

Then Karen noticed that her husband had changed his phone passcode, which he hadn’t done the entire time she’d been married to him.

She was already suspicious when Christmas rolled around.

His Guilty Conscious

Karen said that the present he bought her clued her in that he was feeling guilty about something.

“Around Valentine’s Day, I remember him saying something like, ‘I don’t know what I want to do with the rest of my life,’ so I said, ‘I thought I was part of it?’ He said, ‘You are, but I don’t know what I want to do; just give me time.’”

Everything Changed

“I make a brilliant friend but a terrible enemy, and he was making such an enemy of me,” she said.

Karen set into the start of her plan, which involved gathering up some of her husband’s items and selling them.

She Was Just Beginning

“I thought, ‘You can have all the [expletive] time you like, mate,’ so I started making plans. I started getting rid of stuff, selling stuff,” she said.

But she knew if she wanted to make a bigger move, she’d need proof.

She Got His Phone Passcode

One morning, Karen said that “He woke me up by moving to get his phone, and something in my head said, ‘mouth shut, eyes and ears open.'”

“I just looked up and saw him put four of the same number in his phone, so I thought, right, now we’ve got the pin number.”

She Bided Her Time

Karen saw her opportunity to use the new passcode one night when Terry was in the shower.

“One night, it was like my body became possessed, I paused the telly, and I heard him in the shower. I went out to the car, started it, and left the door open.”

She Saw Texts From His Side Chick

Karen said the texts contained messages like “I can’t believe last night, it was wonderful,” “Yeah, we made up for not seeing each other,” and “Don’t give her any ammunition.”

They even had pet names for each other, like “huggy bear.”

The Side Chick Wasn’t A Stranger

To make matters worse, the other woman was someone Karen knew – her friend Carol. Karen had known Carol longer than she had known Terry.

They had been friends for 25 years.

A Deep Betrayal

Carol had even been at Karen and Terry’s wedding. Terry had befriended Carol’s husband afterward, and the two couples were close friends.

Even the couples’ respective children had become friends with each other.

Everyone Had Known

Karen described it as a betrayal, not just from Carol and Terry, but from other people who had known about it.

“It was the betrayal of a husband and a friend. Neighbors and friends knew about it and never told me,” she said.

Karen Felt Humiliated

“You can’t imagine how [expletive] humiliating it is to have all these people know it’s going on and not say anything to you,” she said.

She was angry but knew she had to get even.

Karen Revealed She Knew The Truth

Although Karen told Terry she knew about his affair, he insisted on denying everything until she revealed that she had seen the text messages on his phone.

That was when she had the idea of revenge.

Karen explained that she thought to herself, “Wait until he shows his true colors. [Carol] has no idea what she let herself in for.”

It Hit Her While Cleaning

While Terry was in the process of moving out of the house, Karen was cleaning out the rest of his things when she had the idea.

“I saw my wedding dress when I was packing up my house and thought, ‘She can[expletive] have this.'”

She Put Her Plan Into Motion

Karen packed the dress up and then set out in her car.

She arrived at Carol’s house and set her wedding dress up on a stand outside the front door, along with a note.

The Note Was Brutal

The note that Karen left with her dress pulled absolutely no punches.

“Hey Carol, I know you love secondhand goods, so I thought you might like the dress I wore when I married your boyfriend. Love, Karen xx.”

Karen Was Beaming

“Leaving a wedding dress and putting that note through the door, I knew there was nothing they could do,” Karen explained.

“I was shaking like a kid at Christmas with excitement. “

Her Husband Didn’t Find It So Funny

When asked about her revenge later, Terry was quoted as saying, “Ask [Karen] what she’s like to live with, and then you might get a real story on why people do cheat on her.”

“When you do eventually go and get in touch with her, tell her to go and get a life,” Terry went on to say.

“How many people have affairs every single day of their lives? People have affairs every day.”

But Karen Isn’t Ashamed

Karen doesn’t feel bad or guilty about her actions at all and feels like Carol and Terry had it coming.

“I’ve got nothing to hide. That bird was a friend of mine for 25 years. I was with him for 19 years,” she said.

He Hadn’t Been Honest

Karen said he should have broken things off with her before cheating. “He never said, ‘Karen, I don’t love you; I don’t want to be with you anymore.’ That would have been fine,” she said.

“That would have been a shock, but not as much as this.”
