Jake Paul’s Super Bowl Hot Take on Bad Bunny Flopped So Hard, His Own Brother Had to Throw Him Under the Bus—Find Out What Went Down!

Added on February 10, 2026 inMusic News Cards

So, here we are again—when the cosmos align, and apparently, so do the Paul brothers’ Twitter fingers, sparking a showdown over none other than Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show. With Venus cozying up to fiery Aries today, emotions are sizzling, passions flare, and boy, did Jake Paul’s hot take ignite a social media firestorm hotter than a lunar eclipse. He called Bad Bunny a “fake American citizen,” a statement that backfired faster than you can say “cancel culture,” especially since, spoiler alert, Puerto Ricans are American citizens—and Jake himself lives there… for tax reasons, no less. Even his own brother Logan had to step in and throw some reality check shade. And if that weren’t enough, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dashed in with some savage commentary, reminding us all that drama doesn’t just live on stage but thrives in the Twitterverse too. So, is this just another case of sibling rivalry sparking a viral spectacle, or are the stars trying to tell us something about identity and loyalty in this fireworks-filled sky? Buckle up; it’s a cosmic mess worth unpacking. LEARN MORE.

Jake Paul’s Bad Bunny Super Bowl Tweet Backfires

Help, the Paul brothers are beefing over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.

The social media stars have been in with the MAGA crowd lately — Jake even sat between JD and Usha Vance at the Winter Olympics US women’s hockey team game. And, as you’re likely aware, MAGA had a total freakout over Bad Bunny being the one to headline the halftime show.

Before the show began, Jake posted, “Purposefully turning off the halftime show… Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.”

There are a few issues with what Jake posted — for one, Puerto Ricans are American citizens. Plus, Jake himself actually lives in Puerto Rico, largely for tax reasons.

Logan, who also lives in Puerto Rico, subsequently ratioed his brother by replying, “I love my brother but I don’t agree with this. Puerto Ricans are Americans & I’m happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island.”

Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined in on the clowning:

Once the backlash had ensued and the show was done, Jake changed his tune and claimed that he called Bad Bunny a “fake citizen” because of his criticism of ICE. “To clarify: I wasn’t calling anyone a ‘fake citizen’ because they’re from Puerto Rico. I live in Puerto Rico, and I love Puerto Rico. I have used my platform to support Puerto Rico time and time again and will always do so,” he wrote. “And I agree love is more powerful than hate. Love America.”

He then backpedaled into “IDK what happened”:

Incidentally, Bad Bunny has a song (sung by Ricky Martin in the halftime show) which speaks to people like the Pauls: “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii.” Here’s a snippet of the English translation!
