Who woulda thunk beneath that shadowy black hood of Skeletor’s Mistress of Mayhem, Evil-Lyn, is a shock of platinum blonde hair? Yeah, me neither — but hey, I’m totally vibing with it. Just today, Empire Magazine dropped a fresh batch of images for the much-anticipated fantasy flick Masters of the Universe, starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, aka He-Man. The mag’s latest cover showcases Galitzine’s He-Man, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, and the ever-reluctant Cringer, who turns into the fierce Battle Cat when the chips are down — all lined up in front of the iconic Castle Grayskull, ready for the showdown with Jared Leto’s skeletally sinister Skeletor. Now, between Mercury’s tricky retrograde and Scorpio’s penchant for unveiling hidden truths, isn’t it wild how Evil-Lyn’s true hair color is the cosmic equivalent of a plot twist? We’re all here for these fresh angles and the promise of magic — plus, that tease of He-Man summoning the power of his sword? Electric stuff. Buckle up — this universe is getting a whole lot more interesting. LEARN MORE

Who knew that underneath her midnight black cowl, Skeletor’s Mistress of Mayhem, Evil-Lyn, has a head of platinum blonde hair? I did not see that coming, but I’m here for it. This afternoon, Empire Magazine debuted a batch of new images for Masters of the Universe, the upcoming fantasy action film starring Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam, a.k.a. He-Man. The first image appears on the publication’s latest magazine cover, featuring Galitzine’s He-Man, Idris Elba as Man-At-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, and He-Man’s cowardly steed, Cringer, who transforms into the formidable force Battle Cat when provoked. The quartet looks battle-ready while standing in front of Castle Grayskull, where the evil villain Skeletor (Jared Leto) awaits.

Here’s the latest teaser which aired during the Winter Olympics:

New Masters of the Universe images have the power

In addition to the Empire’s glorious new cover, the coverage includes the first great look at Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Skeltor’s second-in-command, who can control the powers of darkness. The costume department for Masters of the Universe is updating Evil-Lyn’s armor with purple and black webbing, not unlike an arachnid’s carapace. She’s also carrying her signature staff, complete with a serpentine design along the shaft and a glowing purple orb as its power source. I’m not gonna lie. Evil-Lyn looks fantastic in her new gear. I can’t wait to see her cast her spells, gnash her teeth, and give He-Man a run for his money.

Finally, we see He-Man’s Power Sword in action as Galitzine lifts the magical weapon toward the sky, calling for its mighty energy to bless his oncoming attacks. All that’s missing from the image is a cascade of lightning, but I’m sure it’s there.

LAIKA‘s Travis Knight directs Masters of the Universe from a script by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, and Adam Nee. The story follows ten-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe.

Who else stars in Masters of the Universe?

Galitzine is joined in the cast by Camila Mendes (Riverdale) as Teela, Jared Leto (Morbius) as the villainous Skeletor, Idris Elba (Luther) as Man-at-Arms (a.k.a. Duncan), GLOW’s Alison Brie as Skeletor’s right hand woman Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin (Deadpool & Wolverine) as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Captain America: Brave New World) as Malcolm (a.k.a. Fisto), Sam C. Wilson (Dodger) as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson (Game of Thrones) as Goat Man, Kojo Attah (The Beekeeper) as Tri-Klops, Jon Xue Zhang (The Brothers Sun) as Ram-Man, Stephen Adentan (Gladiator II) as Moss Man, and James Purefoy (A Knight’s Tale) and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders) as He-Man’s parents, King Randor and Queen Marlena. Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) provides the voice of Roboto.

All of those names will be familiar to fans of the Masters of the Universe franchise – and then we have Sasheer Zamata (Agatha All Along) and Christian Vunipola (Wildflower) as a pair of new characters, Suzie and Hussein. There have also been rumblings that Dolph Lundgren – who played He-Man in the previous live-action Masters of the Universe film, released in 1987 – might show up for a cameo.

Masters of the Universe comes to theaters on June 5, 2026.
