Melania Trump and the President of the United States began dating a long time ago, but the age gap had her admitting something about her initial thoughts.

It’s easy to see that Donald Trump is older than his wife of 21 years, but you might not know by how much.

The First Lady met Trump at a party at the Kit Kat Club in 1998 when she was 28 years old and he was 52.

Now if you’re fast at math you can see that’s a pretty big age gap, and it has been the talking point online ever since the pair stepped into the limelight during his first presidency run in 2016.

By the time they’d met, Trump had been married and divorced twice, and fathered four children too.

However, Melania shared her thoughts on the prospect of dating a much older man, and if she was scared, worried about what others would think, or plain against the idea.

Apparently, the 24 year age gap didn’t phase the First Lady at all.

According to Melania, she didn’t have a care in the world at the thought of being with Trump.

She explained in her self-titled memoir, that she was immediately smitten with the real estate tycoon and wanted to pursue things further.

“He was a bit older than me, but I, at the age of twenty-eight, felt an instant connection with him,” Melania wrote.

She added that the way he carried himself was attractive, noting: “He projected a sense of authenticity. He had a zest for life that was infectious. He was successful and hardworking, but also so down to earth and real. I really liked that about him.”

She went on to admit that after meeting him, she returned home and was ‘giddy with joy’. She added: “It’s truly a rare feeling to instantly connect with someone on such a deep level. I was immediately at ease in Donald’s company, as if our souls had known each other for a long time. Our chemistry was undeniable, and our connection felt natural.”

But even if she doesn’t care, others might.

Online, one person reposted an early image of the couple, writing: “People don’t even realize Trump and Melania have been together since the 1990s.”

To this, someone commented: “Good point that when Trump was in his 50s he started dating a woman in her 20s.”

While a lot of people lamented that 28 is an adult, others were wary of the difference in power in their relationship, and others simply didn’t care.

“Who cares?” one person said, while another sarcastically said: “horror.”

But the couple seem to have progressed in the way you’d expect as since meeting, the pair married, welcomed a son, Barron Trump, and have been together ever since.
