Ever notice how saying “good morning” to yourself just doesn’t quite hit the same spark as when you say it to someone else? That tiny exchange of energy — a flicker of connection, maybe even a love at first “hello” kinda vibe — is what life’s really about, isn’t it? Now, toss in today’s quirky cosmic dance (Mercury’s flirting with Jupiter, expanding our urges to connect with a bit of flair), and suddenly, you’re tuned into this wild rhythm of give-and-take, yin and yang, pull and push. I stumbled across this dance years ago in Caroline Casey’s book, “Making the Gods Work for You,” where a group goes full-throttle “yang” in the woods only to retreat into a “yin” state — talk about nature’s own funky reset button! It took me decades to see how this rhythm plays out in real life, like tossing out a penny and reliably reeling back a dime. What’s behind this cosmic beat? Why does it keep looping? And how the heck do we groove along without missing a step? Buckle up — we’re diving into the energetic push-pull that underpins everything, from ancient rituals to everyday hellos. Let’s pull those horns in, then thrust back out… rinse and repeat. Sound familiar? LEARN MORE

Regarding the exchange of energy, it’s what life is a about for a person like. Saying “good morning” to yourself is not the same as the exchange of that greeting, with another person. You can fall in love in the time it takes to say those words. If there is a spark, it can make your day. So I consent to interaction. I want these moments where my energy meets foreign energy. That’s the basics, but there is more to this.
In the late 90’s I read, Caroline Casey’s, “Making the Gods Work for You: The Astrological Language of the Psyche”. There are a number of interesting passages in there, that stuck with me all these years.
One of them was her recollection of some workshop she attended. This is my recollection of her recollection: the class went into the forest, alone, and “thrusted”. They acted in a yang manner; yelling, pounding, stomping around and such. They did this for several days and then retreated back to camp to take a yin position. They “pulled their horns in”, in my vernacular. This was an experiment.
I read this with interest and you know me. I incubated it for 25 years or so, before I started mentioning this to clients, here or there, when I thought the concept might open a door for them. But it’s taken nearly 30 years for me to really see this work, for real, in real life.
I don’t know if it’s always been this way. I certainly haven’t noticed! But at this point, I can toss out penny and get back a dime. Reliably. Seeing this be demonstrated over and over forced me to take a closer look. I know this will continue, but why? How?
I’ve come to understand this rhythm underlies all processes. Somehow I’ve managed to metabolize this.
The High-Gain Antenna (Yin/Pull/Receptive)
The Force Multiplier (Yang/Thrust/Active)
Rinse and repeat.
Have you seen this pattern, play out, in yourself or in someone around you? What do you make of this?
