KPop Demon Hunters had a “Golden” night at Sunday’s Globes, taking home two awards.

The Netflix-Sony Pictures Animation surprise hit scored the win for best animated feature and best original song for “Golden.” Songwriter and singing voice of Rumi, one of three members of the movie’s fictional, demon-fighting K-pop group, got emotional accepting the award for best original song. Sunday’s award wins mirror exactly that of the first award show of 2026, the Critics Choice Awards.

“I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fill one dream to become a K-pop idol and was rejected. [I] disappointed that my voice wasn’t good enough, so I leaned on songs and music to get through it,” she said through tears, referencing the 10 years she spent training at one of the biggest labels in Korea, SM Entertainment.

“Now I’m here, as a singer and a songwriter,” she continued met with cheers from the audience. “Rejecting is redirection, so never give up. It’s never too late to shine like you were born to be.”

KPop Demon Hunters has become Netflix’s most popular title ever. The project chronicles the adventures of Huntrix, a K-pop girl group made up of three members who also just happen to fight monsters from the underworld. In addition to topping the Netflix charts, its soundtrack spent several weeks in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. “Golden” also hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news in August that a sequel film is in talks at Netflix and Sony Animation, and it was later confirmed that the directors and studio had confirmed their deals with the streamer for the next installment.
