Snoop Dogg’s Golden Globes Censorship Meltdown: What He REALLY Said Will Blow Your Mind (And Your Horoscope)

Added on January 12, 2026 inCelebrity News Cards

Ever notice how the stars sometimes conspire to add a little extra spice to an already glittery night? Well, at this year’s Golden Globes—a ceremony that just couldn’t resist shaking things up by introducing a ‘Best Podcast’ category—Snoop Dogg took the stage and, let’s just say, left more than a few jaws dropped and some microphones bleeped out. Was Mercury messing with the communications, or did the Planet of Humor nudge Snoop into a moment of unforgettable candor? Either way, the ‘Next Episode’ rapper’s censored quip about being “high as a motherf**ker” reminded us that, under a certain planetary alignment, even the most polished events can go deliciously off-script. So, what exactly did Snoop say that got the censors so twitchy? Hold onto your stars, because we’re diving into all the cheeky details and those iconic Golden Globes moments that prove when Hollywood meets astrology, the cosmos loves a good showstopper. LEARN MORE.

Here is what Snoop Dogg said on stage at the Golden Globes in order to be censored.

Tonight’s award ceremony saw the Golden Globes break with tradition in order to add in the ‘Best Podcast’ category, a move which sees reflects just how many celebrities have decided to purchase a microphone and start interviewing their friends as a side hustle.

The honour of presenting the award went to Snoop Dogg, with Amy Poehler scooping the win for her podcast Good Hang.

However, observant viewers will likely have noticed the ‘The Next Episode’ singer’s speech wasn’t without a hiccup, as his words were at one point beeped out to viewers at home.

So, what did he say?

“I need y’all to loosen up a little bit. This is the double-G’s, the double-G’s, it’s the Golden Globes, and you’re with the D-O-double-G,” the singer began.

“So, make sure you enjoy yourself, don’t be no stiff biff! Move around a little bit!”

He went on to poke fun at the category of podcasts, adding: “Best Podcast is a very important category for me, because, before podcasts, I was what y’all would listen to driving around in your cars. To you podcasters, you better hope I don’t get in that game.

“Shout-out to the Golden Globes for putting the podcast category in this awards show. And shout-out to all of the podcasters. You all are winners, but the real winner is…”

However, the ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ hitmaker’s speech then appeared to briefly cut out before handing Poehler the award, with broadcasters bleeping out a cheeky bit of the 54-year-old’s speech.

What did Snoop Dogg say during his censored speech?

While the speech was censored to viewers, it wasn’t to those in attendance, with it soon being revealed that Snoop’s censored comment was actually a joke about being high. To no one’s surprise.

“I’m high as a motherf**ker right now. Y’all had me here too damn long,” he said while giggling (per Entertainment Weekly).

Of course, Snoop joking about being high isn’t something out of the ordinary, the man literally has his own cannabis brand, however, broadcasters don’t look too fondly upon jokes about drugs. Or swearing more broadly, as winners Teyana Taylor and Erin Doherty were both censored for dropping f-bombs on stage.

Most shocking Golden Globes moments of all time

The Golden Globes is an award ceremony known for its candid speeches, unforgettable fashion moments and, of course, pure drama. Here are some of the most shocking and memorable moments the Golden Globes have brought us.

2025: Zendaya debuts her engagement ring

Starting off strong with perhaps the most jaw-dropping moment from last year’s ceremony – the giant rock that Zendaya debuted on that finger.

While the Euphoria star is yet to publicly speak out about her engagement to Spider-Man frontman Tom Holland, a family source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple are indeed set to tie the knot.

2024: Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez’ juicy conversation

The internet was obsessed with the interaction between the two singers, causing fans to speculate what they could have been whispering and look so shook over.

While many assumed it was something to do with Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, who were also both in attendance at that year’s Golden Globes, Gomez later clarified on social media that she was telling Swift about ‘two of her friends who hooked up’.

2024: Jo Koy’s hosting falls flat

The comedian’s first time hosting the Golden Globes unfortunately didn’t go down as well as we imagine he’d hoped, with his jokes provoking a number of different reactions in the room – including Selena Gomez at one point putting her head in her hands.

Koy himself even seemed to acknowledge how his jokes weren’t landing, saying to the audience: “I got this gig 10 days ago, you want a perfect monologue?!”

2020: Michelle Williams’ speech on reproductive rights

After winning the gong for best actress in a limited series or TV movie for her role in Fosse/Verdon, Williams surprised the audience and viewers alike with a passionate speech about women’s reproductive rights.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do this without employing a woman’s right to choose,” she said. “To choose when to have my children, and with whom.

“I am grateful to live in a moment in our society where choice exists, because as girls and women, things can happen to our bodies that are not our choice.”

2018: Seth Meyers’ fiery monologue on sexual harassment in Hollywood

During his opening monologue of the 2018 ceremony, Meyers took aim directly at several disgraced Hollywood figures, including Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.

“Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen… It’s 2018. Marijuana is finally allowed, and sexual harassment finally isn’t,” he said.

2014: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s dig at the men of Hollywood

The comedic duo weren’t afraid to call out some of Hollywood’s leading men during their 2014 Golden Globes monologue.

“Like a supermodel’s vagina, let’s all give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio,” Fey said, while she said of George Clooney: “Gravity is nominated for best film. It’s the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.”

Yikes.

2003: Jack Nicholson admits to being high on Valium

When picking up his award for best actor in a drama for his role in About Schmidt, Nicholson took the opportunity to tell the audience that he was, indeed, high on Valium – a drug used to relieve anxiety.

2001: Renée Zellweger’s poorly timed bathroom visit

When she was announced as the winner of the best actress in a musical or comedy award for her role in Nurse Betty, Zellweger was nowhere to be seen.

After Hugh Grant started to accept the award on her behalf, the Bridget Jones legend finally appeared on stage and admitted she’d been in the bathroom taking lipstick off her teeth. Bit relatable, if I’m honest.

1996: Brad Pitt thanks an anti-diarrhoea medication

Pitt won the award for best supporting actor for his role in 12 Monkeys, and he decided to dedicate his win to Kaopectate, an anti-diarrhoea medication.

“I’d like to thank…actually, the makers of Kaopectate,” the actor said. “They’ve done a great service for their fellow man.”
