Authorities have shared video evidence from the evening Marshawn Kneeland lost his life to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, per TMZ.
The video, which includes body and dash cam footage, showed the police pursuing the Dallas Cowboys player, who was speeding on the highway in his Dodge Charger.
During the chase, Kneeland weaved through traffic and reportedly reached speeds of up to 160 mph in an attempt to avoid authorities.
Although not shown in the video, the NFL star ultimately crashed his car into another vehicle and then fled the scene on foot.
This portion of the incident was captured by cameras in the area and later confirmed by the owner of the car Kneeland collided with.

Upon the police arriving at the car crash scene, they noticed an empty holster in the vehicle before going on to begin searching for Kneeland.
Finding the empty carrier led law enforcement to suspect the professional football player could be carrying a weapon, although at the time, they had yet to identify him and were operating under the assumption that they were tracking a car thief.
During the manhunt, someone who claimed to have witnessed the incident informed responders that they observed an individual sprinting across an open grassy area.

A state trooper quickly entered the witness’s vehicle and directed them to navigate toward that spot, though the Cowboys player had already vanished by the time they arrived.
More police officers arrived at the scene, and the search continued with the help of K-9 units and drones to sweep through the area properly.
Ultimately, authorities discovered Kneeland’s body inside a portable restroom facility, with initial findings suggesting he had taken his own life with a firearm.

Prior to Kneeland’s body being discovered, his girlfriend, Catalina Mancera, had gone to the scene and informed police that she could not disclose his location out of fear he would kill himself.
This possibly was what helped the officers identify Kneeland as the individual they were pursuing.
In the footage, officers are heard speaking about the “goodbye” messages Kneeland was sending his loved ones.
The police dispatch audio related to the crime scene also relayed the same information that Kneeland texted his family goodbye.
The same dispatch audio revealed that Kneeland’s girlfriend claimed that the football player had a history of mental issues.

Kneeland’s teammates and other close associates mourned his death after it went public.
“I am shattered to confirm that my client and dearest friend Marshawn Kneeland passed away last night,” said the player’s agent, Jonathan Perzley.
He added, “I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream of being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys. Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words.”
