Travis Kelce Drops a Bombshell: Why the 2025 Chiefs Might Just Leave 2024 in the Dust—Stars Say It’s Not Just Fantasy!

Added on November 20, 2025 inCelebrity News Cards, Sports Cards

So, here we are—midway through the 2025 NFL season, and Travis Kelce’s dropping truth bombs none of us saw coming. Despite the Kansas City Chiefs stumbling around with a 5-5 record and flirting with playoff oblivion, Kelce insists this year’s squad is actually better than the near-perfect team of 2024. Makes you wonder—could Mercury be messing with their game plan, or is this just the cosmic side of football? Kelce shrugged off breaking the franchise’s touchdown record like it was yesterday’s news because, frankly, what good’s a personal milestone if the playoffs are slipping through your fingers? With seven games left and the pressure mounting, he’s betting on a turnaround—even if those close losses are piling up like unfinished homework. And let’s be honest, if you had to pick a team to win in a head-to-head showdown—2024’s precision or 2025’s potential—Kelce’s picking the underdogs this time. It’s like that awkward moment when your star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, openly admits he’s gotta tighten up his throws to keep the clock ticking in their favor. So maybe, just maybe, this gritty, inconsistent Chiefs team is all the universe’s way of saying: “Hold on, the best plays are yet to come.” Ready to dig into the drama? LEARN MORE.

Travis Kelce has shared his thoughts on the Kansas City Chiefs’ performance so far this year, revealing that he thinks they’re better than what they were last year, despite their worst record.

Kelce broke the Chiefs’ touchdown record but said he “could care less” about it as he and his teammates are out of the playoff picture, at least for now.

With seven games to go in the regular season, Travis Kelce hopes they’ll be able to pick up the pace and get back to winning ways.

Travis has shared an honest assessment of the Kansas City Chiefs’ performance this year, insisting that the 2025 squad is better than the one they fielded last year.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end and his teammates finished the 2024 season with an impressive 15-2 record, but have only recorded a dismal 5-5 record in 2025, with a slim chance of making the playoffs.

On Wednesday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast with his brother and co-host Jason Kelce, the brothers entered a hypothetical conversation where Travis revealed he’ll choose this current Chiefs team over last year’s version, per People Magazine.

“Let me ask you this,” Jason said. “This is what’s crazy about the NFL. If this year’s Chiefs team played last year’s Chiefs team, who wins?”

Travis immediately replied, “I’m taking this year’s.”

“That’s what I’m saying, I am too,” Jason agreed. “Somehow, you guys are better, but you’re sitting at 5-5. You’re just not being you, you’re not executing as well at the end of games, which is very uncharacteristic for Pat [Mahomes] and what you guys have been, obviously, last year.”

It’s been a torrential ride for the AFC champions with the latest in their disappointing run of results coming at the hands of the Denver Broncos on Sunday, where they lost the game 22-19, coming off a 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

That game was the fifth time this season that the Chiefs have lost in a one-score game, but with barely seven games to go in the regular season, Travis believes it’s time for them to dig in and change things for the better.

“It feels like it’s all self-inflicting,” he says. “And it feels like the answers are right there in front of us, and we just gotta f-cking do it.”

The veteran footballer broke the Chiefs’ franchise record for career receiving touchdowns, but had little to say about it and respectfully declined to comment post-game. It appears that where things stand with the win-loss record is more pressing to him.

“If you’re going to ask me about the record, I could care less about that right now,” Kelce told reporters.

Meanwhile, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took responsibility for the team’s woeful turn of results.

“I think we’re really talented and we’ve got a lot of great players, but it’s about being more consistent,” he said. “I think it starts with me. There’s times where I’m firing and we’re moving the ball down the field at ease. But there’s times where we go in spurts where I miss a throw or a [pass] protection call. We haven’t been consistent enough to win games. It starts with me.”

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Upcoming Schedule

Currently sitting on a .500 record, their schedule doesn’t get any easier as they face the Indianapolis Colts next at Arrowhead Stadium on November 23.

They’ll then square up with the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and Las Vegas Raiders, most of whom have also recorded disappointing runs this season.

Travis and his teammate would also hope to avenge their last week’s loss with a Christmas Day rematch against the Denver Broncos in Kansas City.

Despite setbacks, Mahomes is maintaining a positive and confident attitude toward the upcoming games as he believes they need to start getting the results they want.

“It’s going to be tough to get back in the division race,” he said, per People Magazine.

He added, “The goal is to get into the playoffs and try to make a run at it. We’re kind of at that point where we’ve got to find a way to win games.”
