Sabrina Carpenter brought her brand of tongue-in-cheek pop to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles Sunday, kicking off the first of six sold-out shows at the downtown arena.
Sunday’s show was part of the second American leg of the Short N’ Sweet tour; Carpenter previously played in L.A. in November 2024 with two shows at the Kia Forum and one at the Crypto.com Arena. The show, broken up by times of day, centers around the main set piece of a house.
Carpenter kicked off the show with “Taste,” the lead single from her breakout album, Short N’ Sweet. While the singer’s become known for catchy pop anthems, the Short N’ Sweet tour provides casual fans and diehard supporters a better look at the singer’s well-rounded discography. In between her viral pop hits like “Bed Chem,” “Please Please Please” and “Juno,” she peppered in her slower, more lyrical tracks like “Dumb and Poetic,” “Slim Pickins” and “Sharpest Tool.”
The pop singer’s profile exploded last summer following the release of her 2024 single “Espresso,” which she closed the show with. The single and album earned Carpenter two Grammy Awards in February for best pop solo performance with “Espresso” and best pop vocal album.
The less exciting way to put on this tour would’ve been to only include songs from Short N’ Sweet on, however, Carpenter perfectly peppered in tracks from previous albums like “Decode” and “Tornado Warnings.” The biographical “Because I Like A Boy” was a highlight, as was both “Nonsense” and “Feather,” which were the beginning of Carpenter’s recent rise to pop IT girl status.
Given this show was the second leg of the tour supporting Short N’ Sweet, the setlist included a few newer songs from Carpenter’s latest album, Man’s Best Friend, which she told the L.A. crowd that the shows last year inspired her to write several songs for the album. However, Carpenter managed to add in “House Tour,” the innuendo-laden, groovy pop track, which felt right at home given the show’s backdrop. She also had the crowd singing along to the album’s two singles, “Manchild” and “Tears.” At one point in the show, Carpenter and her dancers brought out a roulette meant to pick a song to sing, landing on the now-viral “Nobody’s Son,” which the singer performed a snippet of.
The costumes added to the show’s overall experience, a perfect match to the sweet meets sultry brand that Carpenter’s built for herself. The singer’s managed to make what bodysuit she’ll kick the show off in as something fans can look forward to. The black bodysuit she performs a majority of the show in is both glamorous and effortlessly cool.
Carpenter managed to nab six nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards earlier this month. The “Manchild” singer was nominated for record of the year, song of the year, album of the year, best pop vocal album, best pop solo performance and best music video. The singer also earned six nominations at the 2025 ceremony.
All six nights of Carpenter’s run at the Crypto.com Arena are currently sold out. She performed tonight (Nov. 17) and resumes on Nov. 19, playing shows every night onward through Nov. 22.
