Hold onto your pint glasses: The Inbetweeners are back—and their ‘exciting’ update might just rewrite the rules of comedy as we know it!

So, turns out the stars might be aligning for a return of The Inbetweeners—yep, those lovable misfits from the dorm-room days who somehow made failing at life look hilariously entertaining. It’s been over a decade since Neil, Jay, Simon, and Will got themselves into a right old mess down under in The Inbetweeners 2, but woo boy, the creators are brewing up new adventures for our dear dysfunctional friends. Now, here’s a cosmic question for you—do you think Mercury’s retrograde madness had anything to do with the infamous 2019 reunion flop? Because this time around, word on the astral street is that it won’t be just another awkward chat roast with Jimmy Carr. Plus, with the Sun shining on their creative deal with Banijay UK, the gang might be hitting screens, stages, or even the big screen again—whichever way the cosmos (and their increasingly wrinkled faces) allow. Old pals still actually like each other, so who knows? Maybe they’ll bring those classic antics back, reminding us all that some friendships are just written in the stars. LEARN MORE

The Inbetweeners will be making a sensational return to our screens, according to its creators.

It’s been over 11 years since we’ve seen the boys on an adventure together in The Inbetweeners 2 film, which saw Neil, Jay, Simon, and Will take on Australia.

But now, it looks like the E4 comedy will be coming back – and not in the underwhelming way the reunion did back in 2019, where the stars were interviewed (and severely roasted) by comedian Jimmy Carr.

The Inbetweeners creators, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, announced: “It’s incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh, friends)”.

It’s reported by The Sun that a deal with production company Banijay UK has been reached, though it has not been confirmed if a TV series, film, or even a play is in the works, though Joe Thomas (Simon), has previously said that only a film would work at their advanced ages.

Along with Thomas, Simon Bird, James Buckley, and Blake Harrison have been said to be on board with the plans, with the E4 comedy set to return after its three series run from 2008 to 2010, and two following films in 2011 and 2014.

Despite news coming out over Bird’s upcoming role in a Star Wars film (feisty one you are), he seems to have made time for the comeback of the series which launched his career.

Banijay UK chief exexcutive, Patrick Holland, said he was ‘delighted’ about what the return of the boys would bring, adding of the creators: “They have an infectious creative vision for the brand which will resonate with audiences old and new.”

The company added that the newly struck deal ‘unlocks the rights and potential to bring The Inbetweeners back for new audiences across a range of platforms including film, tv and stage’.

The news comes after Thomas spoke about how eager the actors would be to reboot the show, just last year.

He was asked about conversations which may have been going on, as he responded: “Yes, it’s happened in various forms.

“All of us feel it would be nice to do.”

Speaking on a podcast, he admitted that the four are still mates and added: “We’re all still around. We’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other, and if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it.”
