Brace Yourself: The Virgo New Moon Next Week Is Plotting to Mess With Your Life—Here’s How to Outsmart It Before It Strikes!

Added on August 18, 2025 inASTROLOGY CARDS

So here we are, folks — the Sun’s parking itself in Leo for the last hurrah of the year before making a graceful (or not-so-graceful) exit into Virgo this Friday. And oh boy, does it come in hot, shaking hands with retro Aries Chiron on the way out, like an old friend you didn’t expect but are oddly glad to see one last time. But wait, right behind this cosmic curtain call comes a new moon at the magical zero degrees of Virgo — talk about a celestial plot twist! Mercury’s running the show here, mixing it up with Pallas Athena, while Venus and Mars throw some spicy squares and trines that promise to stir up the emotional pot just enough. Have you ever wondered if your own feet really do leave the deepest imprint on your path? Well, this week’s energy asks us exactly that — are you ready to break free from old patterns, get real about your needs, and bravely step into the “hard way” that oddly feels like the best way? It’s a mood that’s part Grimm fairy tale, part self-made reboot, and 100% transformative. Buckle up, hydrate, and maybe find a buddy to body-double your way through it all — because this celestial dance is not only full of pratfalls and magic dust but also insists we think hard, act smart, and, above all, listen to our hearts (even when they’re whispering, “Are you sure about this?”). Ready to see where this cosmic gig takes you? LEARN MORE

fox faceThis is the Sun’s final week in Leo this year, as it moves through a trine to retro Aries Chiron by Tuesday and heads into Virgo on Friday afternoon. The imprint of the path is made by our own feet, and the Sun’s entry into Virgo and the last sign of summer is met mere hours later by the new moon, Moon-Sun conjunction at the monumental zero degree.

Mercury rules this new moon. Mercury in Sun-ruled Leo opposes Pallas Athena in Aquarius. Venus-ruled Libra Mars spends the week in square to Jupiter and heading into trine with Pallas Athena. Venus is in Moon-ruled Cancer squaring Chion all week, an aspect that perfects almost exactly the hour between the Sun and the Moon hitting Virgo on Friday.

SO, the Virgo new moon itself carries the flavor of having mulled things over, tested and been tested — both in theory and in practice, and having been pushed to action, still managing to steer out of problematic patterns from the past by making our most personal needs primary. That’s not easy, and yet this week it’s possible.

The new moon itself is the point of a yod from retro Saturn-Neptune in Aries and retro Pluto in Aquarius. It also squares Uranus in Gemini, itself ruled by Mercury. A deep and fated shift in reality carries a bit of fairy dust, but it’s not a Disney tale. Whatever you think is coming — that ain’t it. This story arc is more of a Grimm affair, in all the best ways possible.

It’s transformational, and you’ll see your personal seed of growth reflected in the collective as well (and vice verse). However, when you act for your own good, you exert direct control on your circumstances. This is an investment, and it’s not easy. While the thrust of those outside influences have deep rooting in the past, we’re left with few doubts about the right way to go: the hard way. Oddly enough, the hard way looks more satisfying because we’ve all learned how to try hard things, haven’t we?

Knowing better is doing better, and we’re all being kicked upward into a new, more data-driven level, for good. THINK about where you’re going; START where you are. If you’re not in sync with your values, it’s not going to feel good. So that’s a good place to start. It’s okay to be scared or anxious. It’s not okay to betray your own heart. Stop doing that. This is the easiest time to the year to navigate out of that. Don’t avoid the subject, just move through it… quickly.

Monday’s Gemini Moon sextiles the Leo Sun and sextiles Aries Chiron. The mood feeds action and purpose; nothing to waste, so take advantage. The Moon then moves to its own rulership in Cancer and into square with retro Saturn and retro Neptune in Aries. It spends the rest of the day moving into square with Mars in Libra as well. It’s a bit wide for a proper t-square, but it’s probably going to act like one anyway. Control is the issue. If you can Jedi wave yourself into emotional regulation, that would be optimal. Otherwise, you’re whipped at the whim of the tides and other people’s interests.

Tuesday, the Cancer Moon conjoins Jupiter and trines Scorpio Vesta and Juno. Pop out of the gate with… not a plan exactly, but a purpose. Get after the themes that are dearest to your heart and will sustain you going forward.

On Wednesday, the Cancer Moon conjoins Venus then squares Chiron. Water on hot rocks is quickly spent, and sometimes the steam burns. Preparation will help with that. Hydrate, center yourself, and control your own flow. When the Moon moves to Sun-ruled Leo, it trines retro Saturn-Neptune, sextiles Gemini Uranus, and opposes retro Pluto. At this point, it’s semi-sextile the degree of the new moon; so take advantage of this itty bitty heads up mood, and use whatever comes hurtling your way to practice. Go woo-woo slo-mo and snatch bullets out of the air, matrix style. Or consider it a practice fire and you’re a fireman. Low stakes and it should be fun! Use that morning steam-room mood to loosen up ahead of time.

Thursday, our Leo Moon sextiles Mars, conjoins Mercury, and opposes Pallas Athena. Whip smart and ready to try out our mental moves! Any mental moves, though, ought to benefit from getting the blood pumping and setting the stage for a pleasant interaction. This is a particularly good time for brainstorming and picking the brain of someone who has your best interest in mind as well. If you’re able to do this for them at the same time, even better.

If you’re having a tough time getting started on something, try body-doubling: working in the same room (or on a phone call with headphones). This provides not only motivation but also accountability.

Friday morning, the Leo Moon squares Vesta-Juno then trines Chiron through the afternoon. Have-tos may get in the way of your feel-good practice. First one and then the other may work, or (more likely) consider it a test of your stamina and will and run circles around the minor irritations.

From there on out, the Sun moves to Virgo, Venus perfects its square to retro Chiron, and the Moon hits Virgo and conjoins the Sun for the new moon in the dark of night. Something fresh can “hurt so good”. The good will outlast the effort it takes to get there, so it’s more important to make you start so you can get there. Thinking is first, check your insights.

The new moon takes place late Friday/early Saturday at 0 degrees Virgo. Where does this hit your chart? Consider of list of pros an cons for any new venture. Maximize your commitments.
