Sean “Diddy” Combs has found an unexpected ally in his ex, Gina Huynh, as he continues to push for bail ahead of his sentencing in his sex crimes trial.

Huynh is remembered for her surprising no-show at Diddy’s trial, where she had been expected to testify as a key witness for federal prosecutors.

She penned a letter to the presiding judge in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex crimes case, stating that Diddy had made “visible efforts to become a better person,” seemingly as a plea for his release.

In a surprising twist following his trial, Diddy has received support from his ex-girlfriend, Gina Huynh, as he makes a second attempt to secure bail, per TMZ.

Huynh, who was listed as victim number three in the trial but failed to testify, penned a letter to the court where she spoke about knowing Diddy in both a “personal and professional capacity.”

She also claimed that her experience with the music mogul made her privy to the different facets of him, describing him as a “father, a family man, and a businessman.”

She went on to state that the letter was written to urge the court to release the rapper ahead of his sentencing.

“I provide this letter to share my observations about his character and to respectfully request that the court permit his release on bond while the case proceeds,” Huynh appealed.

In her appeal to the court, Huynh urged the court to see the rapper “beyond the allegations” and acknowledged that her relationship with the music mogul had its “ups and downs.”

She also admitted that Diddy had made “mistakes,” though it remains unclear whether she was referring to the sexual coercion allegations federal prosecutors previously claimed she experienced at his hands.

According to Huynh, Diddy was willing to acknowledge these mistakes and soon after made “visible efforts” to improve himself and make amends for the pain he caused.

She also pointed out that at the time they parted ways, he “embodied an energy of love, patience, and gentleness” and shouldn’t be seen as a danger to her or the community.

Huynh ended her letter by assuring the court that Diddy would fully comply with any bail conditions and would not risk his freedom if released.

Late last month, Diddy’s legal team submitted a second bail proposal to Judge Arun Subramanian, in which they argued for the rapper’s release ahead of his sentencing in October.

His lawyers pointed out that other individuals convicted of similar charges were granted bail, per TMZ.

They also emphasized that Diddy did not have intercourse with the escorts he was convicted of hiring and that the relationships those escorts had with the victims in his case were all consensual.

The victims referenced in the case include Diddy’s ex, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, and another witness identified only as “Jane,” who remained anonymous throughout the trial.

In their filing, Diddy’s attorneys also attempted to downplay his history of violence.

They claimed that the altercation with Jane in June 2024 only occurred after she allegedly provoked him with her own aggression.

They further argued that this was the only instance of violent behavior since Diddy’s split from Cassie, who was previously seen being assaulted by him in a widely circulated hotel surveillance video from 2016.

Federal prosecutors fired back with a response of their own on August 1, urging the judge to continue to deny Diddy’s bail request.

According to TMZ, they argued that Diddy and his attorneys failed to present any evidence that would mitigate the severity of his crimes.

In contrast to Diddy’s legal team, prosecutors maintained that judges have denied bail to many individuals facing similar charges, and those cases were very similar to the rapper’s case.

Additionally, they pointed out that Diddy could flee the country if granted bail because of his “endless financial means … demonstrated ability to conceal his crimes, his past efforts to bribe security officers, as well as his general disregard for the rule of law.”
