Have you ever noticed how quickly an online community can go from being a warm hug to a fiery pitchfork mob? Well, grab your popcorn, because today we’re diving into a tale where two insightful women have suddenly found themselves amidst an organized internet takedown! This formerly unified space is now splintered, with accusations of “cult membership” flying around like confetti at a New Year’s bash. Some are getting labeled as brainwashed followers, while others are deemed as nothing more than drama addicts. It’s a classic case of social media polarization, where any nuance tends to get drowned out by the clickbait frenzy. Astrology’s current vibe—with Pluto strutting its stuff in Aquarius—raises some intriguing questions about our collective behavior and groupthink. I mean, are we destined to see more of these wild online showdowns, or is it just the universe’s way of reminding us of our own imperfect humanity? Buckle up as we explore the shadows lurking in these digital corners. LEARN MORE.
Hi, Elsa!
Recently two, very human, imperfect women, who I have gained a lot of useful insight and information from, have been the target of an organized internet takedown. A community which had been previously quite cohesive and thriving around certain principles not commonly given voice on the internet, feels like it has split into two factions. On the extreme ends of these, accusations of ‘cult membership’ are flying – actually in both directions. Those who have shown support to them are being called fawning brainwashed cult victims. Conversely, those on the extreme end of the dissenters, are deemed gossipers, drama addicts, and slanderers. Of course, as usual, there are a majority of people in the middle trying to have thoughtful conversations, but these attempts at civility and nuance tend to get pushed down in favor of the clickbait and the ‘smoking guns.’
Trying to see the bigger picture, I did look at other people who could be deemed ‘leaders’ in their field of thought or expertise, especially those who are individualistic and perhaps controversial, and most of them have something similar, IE, there are entire forums online dedicated to determining, once and for all, that “Mr. Well Respected So-and-So is actually a cult leader, and here’s all the juicy evidence for it.” Meanwhile some accusations *do* make you pause, and then it’s easy to fall into black and white thinking: okay so this person is bad / untrustworthy, which subconsciously leads to trusting that someone else must be ‘good,’ or trustworthy, and then, where is the acknowledgement of the wholeness of human beings in any of this? It’s a narrowing of consciousness into binary thinking fueled by shades of projection.
Can we expect to see more of these types of situations while Pluto is in Aquarius (dark side of group thinking? the force of the unconscious affecting imperfect, human attempts at egalitarianism?) Or, is it something else, astrologically, that seems to be nudging along these themes? I can’t help but wonder what the future of online spaces is when anyone gaining traction by filling an unmet need, is either to be quickly spotted and replaced by AI creators, or be fashioned as a ‘cult leader’ by an army of anonymous profiles always waiting in the background, sharpening their knives.

You have a great hack on this. I generally agree with everything you’ve written, but I’m not sure it all comes together. I don’t mean to be critical. I think you’re wanting to refine your thinking?
To wrap up my portion, I think the whole of this topic falls under my original read on Pluto in Aquarius, from back in 2017.
When you degrade yourself when you degrade others. Losses all around. It’s a dark time for humanity, for sure. I miss seeing smiling faces so I chose the picture to illustrate how far we’ve fallen.
