As we journey through the cosmic maelstrom of Mars opposing Pluto—a situation that usually lasts a couple of weeks but is dragging on this time for three months—it’s hard not to feel the heat (and not just from that fiery red planet!). Imagine trying to balance the aggressive energy of Mars with the heavy, transformative forces of Pluto. It’s like mixing a tornado with a black hole—intense, right? As we’re just past the halfway mark of this opposition, it’s the perfect moment to check in on how this celestial drama is influencing our lives. Spoiler alert: it’s tough out there! I’ve found myself wrestling with some real challenges during this transit, but there’s also an unexpected silver lining. So, how does one navigate such turbulent skies? Let’s dive into this cosmic clash, uncover the lessons hidden within the strife, and maybe even manage to find some healing amidst the chaos. Ready to explore this celestial rollercoaster? Typically, Mars opposes Pluto one every two years, for about two weeks. Due to retrogrades, Mars is caught opposing Pluto for three months. That’s plenty of time to build tension, that’s going to want a release.
We’re a little more than halfway through the opposition period. I thought it would be good to check in and see how it’s going.
The opposition lands in my 1st/7th houses. Unsurprisingly, I’ve found this transit, challenging (Mars) and painful (Pluto). Frankly, I can’t wait until it ends, though I’ve got an overall good result from it.
I don’t think I’d be getting a good result, if I’d not consciously decided to direct this energy towards healing. Still, this does not equal out in my mind. The gain is not worth the pain! But I’m in this circumstance and “gain” of any kind, is better than suffering pain for nothing, or even less than nothing.
“Elsa, do you want to do this for a dollar?”
“No.”
“How about nothing?”
“I’ll take the dollar…”
Stark, huh?
I’m also learning from this. I’ve been aware of how much I dislike “strife” for many years, but I see now, how incredibly destructive it is. For me, personally (Mars). as well as the collective (Pluto). I’m talking about the division and the warring factions of countless types.
So we had the CEO shooting and now we have some detached, airborne thingamajigs, threatening? I wish this were funny. In reality, anger (Mars) is coiling up in the collective… seems to me there will be a strike.
Can you see how hard it is to extract something good from that? This is mirrors my experience.
As for the impact of the opposition on relationships, the tending is to stand in the light (Leo) and shoot at Pluto (the other), which is generally, your projected shadow. UN-fun!
I’ve explained how I am channeling the energy towards healing (my back, primarily). Here are other posts on this topic
Saturn and Neptune in Pisces, can drain a person, at least intermittently. This complicates the matter. But if you want a power move, try sticking together, rather that being driven apart. I’m talking about love relationships, but also friendships and social groups (like the people who comment here). It’s healing, powerful (Pluto) act (Mars) of rebellion (Aquarius).
Please note, Mars is currently in Leo, hence the “light” show… that we hope won’t kill us (Pluto). It will ingress into Cancer, early January and this stuff may hit a bit closer to home.
How are you faring with this extended Mars Pluto opposition?
