If Mercury in retrograde can make us rethink our group texts and playlists, imagine what magic (or melodrama!) the cosmos is stirring up for the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year. June 11 must have Jupiter in its creative sector, because—hold on to your lyric sheets—Taylor Swift, Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins, and Walter Afanasieff are about to be immortalized among the greats in New York City . It’s like the universe got bold and decided to assemble a dream team who wrote the soundtracks to our most dramatic breakups, steamy summer memories, and even our “I should’ve gone to karaoke tonight” moments. Isn’t it wild to think that, under the same astrological sky, we’re echoing “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Footloose,” and a certain epic 10-minute bridge about red scarves? If you ask me, that’s more cosmic alignment than finding someone at a concert who actually knows all the words. Ready for a deep dive into this powerhouse class of 2026—and the songs that made us belt, cry, and dance like no one was watching? LEARN MORE

Taylor Swift, Alanis Morissette, Kenny Loggins and Walter Afanasieff will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on June 11 in New York City.

The songwriters behind classic songs and concert experiences to be honored this year have been responsible for hits like “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “Rock and Roll All Nite,” “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Footloose,” “Single Ladies” and Swift’s 10-minute version of “All Too Well.”
Additional special award honorees for the 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame gala will be announced soon.
“The music industry is built upon the incredible talent of songwriters who create unforgettable songs. Without their artistry, there would be no recorded music, concert experiences, or engaged fans. Everything originates from the song and its creator. We take great pride in our ongoing commitment to recognizing some of the most culturally significant composers in history,” Songwriters Hall of Fame chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement on Wednesday.
“This year’s lineup not only showcases iconic songs but also celebrates unity across various genres. These songwriters have profoundly impacted the lives of billions of listeners worldwide, and it is our privilege to honor their contributions,” Rodgers added.
To qualify for the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction, artists have to have penned a major catalog of songs with successful commercial releases. Music icon Swift’s other hit songs include “Blank Space,” “Anti-Hero,” “Love Story” and “The Last Great American Dynasty.”
Morissette is best known for penning songs like “You Oughta Know,” “Ironic,” “Hand in My Pocket” and “Uninvited.” Afanasieff, a frequent collaborator with Mariah Carey, wrote hit songs like “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” “My All,” “Hero,” “Love Will Survive” and “One Sweet Day.”
