In the glittering cosmos of awards shows, the Golden Globes have always claimed a spot close to the sun—despite their occasional black holes of scandal that threatened to swallow their star power whole. Tonight, they’re shining brightly again, with practically every A-list constellation lighting up the Hollywood sky, all orbiting around Nikki Glaser’s sharp wit at the helm. Could it be that under this Scorpio moon, known for its tenacity and magnetic charm, the Globes are channeling some serious cosmic resilience? As Nikki dances masterfully between biting humor and heartfelt homage—dropping zingers about The Rock and Kevin Hart that had the room cracking up—we’re here tracking every winner and witty barb. Brace yourselves, because this ceremony isn’t just back; it’s blasting off in stellar style. LEARN MORE.
In the pecking order of awards shows, there always seems to be a space near the top of the list for the Golden Globes. While they’ve faced more than their share of scandals—to the point that it once looked like their time had come and gone—they’ve managed to work their way back to the forefront of pop culture. For proof of that, one need only look at the fact that pretty much every big star in Hollywood is present at the ceremony tonight, which is once again hosted by Nikki Glaser.
We’ll be keeping a live tab of all the winners this evening, so make sure to follow along with us as we track them all. So far, the show is off to a solid start, with Glaser once again striking a nice balance between being cutting—albeit in a good-natured way—and reverent toward the many A-listers in the room. She fired off some great one-liners, including calling The Rock and Kevin Hart the Steve Martin and Martin Short for people under fifty, which made both pairs of BFFs cackle.
She also landed a HUGE dig at CBS News, calling it “see BS news,” despite the fact that the show is airing on CBS. Glaser made a predictable joke about Leonardo DiCaprio dating younger women before admitting the only reason she went for the old standby is that nobody seems to know a thing about him. She also delivered a killer joke about Sean Penn, suggesting that as he gets older, he’s slowly morphing into a “sexy leather handbag.” She got her digs in, but none of them were very mean – but she actually managed to be pretty funny.
